Mpho Mooketsi started playing basketball at the age of 12 years as one of the founding members of the GBT Mongoose Club. By then the club consisted of 90% juniors. Mpho profiled himself instantly as a very agile and gifted player and was awarded his first wheelchair by his club before he became a U23 National colours at the age of 16 years. He soon transitioned into the Senior National Team which he served for several years under various coaches (Coach Fick, Coach Richert, Coach Belen, Coach Moepeng). 

As a National U23 and Senior player, and through personal engagements he accumulated vast international experience with participation in tournaments in countries as: Australia, Kenya, Qatar, Angola, Morocco, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France and England. In 2012 Mpho participated in the Paralympian games in London as part of the National Team.  

In South Africa Mpho participates at various all competition levels (Provincial Champions League PCCL, NW Provincial Team, Super Sports League). Except playing for his own home club, he has been contracted by numerous Super Sports Clubs over the years (Lions, Mongoose, Wings/ Marlins). 

Mpho Mooketsi is a driving force in his club and any team he is part of. In his home club, he holds the office of Deputy Chairperson. Mpho is absolutely self-motivated and has the development of his club and its players at heart. As a senior player he ploughs back into development of younger players, while also pushing senior players for higher performance. His recipe for success is backing his talent by a healthy lifestyle and continuous daily training.
