Wheelchair basketball can be played by most people with mobility impairments with good hand function. The most common disabilities players have are: paraplegia e.g. from accidents, spina bifida Spinal TB; leg amputations, walking impairments, CP diplegia, minor disabilities involving one or two legs.

Yes you can. Also able bodied persons can play wheelchair basketball. However, in most tournaments only two able bodied persons can participate at the same time.

Secondly we always need volunteers. You can help by being an assistant, official (after being trained), become part of the medical team or doing certain jobs like maintaining the grounds, equipment care for the team.

In the club we all volunteer and still try to contain costs. You will have to carry part of your transport costs for training or for example buy your own home training equipment. For the love of the game you will build your investment into the future by caring well for yourself, your body and even your finances.

Wheelchair basketball is based on a 4 point classification system, based on the factors of trunk and arm control. The lowest classification is 1.0 and indicates more difficulties in trunk control. The highest class is 4.5 which equals able bodied players or persons with lower leg disabilities which do not affect their trunk control when seated. The classes in-between describe the spectrum of having some to almost full control of the trunk.
