Vostile Ruba learned about the beautiful game of basketball during his school years. Basketball was introduced to Vostile at the age of 8 years as part of rehabilitation. He started playing organized basketball in 1995. As a player he grew to become a force to reckon with. At the age of 16 Vostile started playing Franchise ball with the Mandeville Eagles. He was also chosen into the National U23 team. As a National U23 and Senior player, he accumulated vast experience with participation in local, interprovincial and international tournaments.  In 2009 he relocated to Mafikeng and joined the GBT Mongoose. He helped the club transition from a junior to a senior club and assumed progressively more leadership roles on and off the court. Vostile is a hardworking disciplined player living by his motto.

Vostile participates at all South African competition levels (Provincial Club Champions League PCCL, NW Provincial Team, Super Sports League). Except playing for his own home club, he has been contracted by numerous Super Sports Clubs over the years (Eagles, Lions, Saints and Mongoose).

His experience and discipline earns him recognition and regular selection into Super Sports Teams, the Super Sport All Star and the North West Provincial Teams. With the NW province he won several gold medals, last in 2019.

In the 2023 Super Sports Season, Vostile received an MVP award and also won with his All Star Super Sports Team against the National Team. In 2022/23 he received a call-up to be part of the National Senior Training Squad.

Vostile Ruba is a leader on and off court. In his home club, he also holds the office of the Chairperson. Vostile is self-motivated and has the development of his club and its players at heart. As a senior player and coach he works especially for the improvement of younger players, while also pulling the strings on the administrative level of the club. Vostile is committed to a healthy diet and lifestyle, regular self-directed training and loves road running as a cross training.
